Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Piano, Voice
Kalista is a violist/pianist in the Woodlands. She is a graduate of SHSU with a BM in Education. She has been studying music since she was five; starting on violin and piano. With thirteen years of experience on viola, eight years of voice, and ten years of piano she is passionate about spreading the power of music. Kalista is a past member of the Lone Star String Ensemble, Symphony North of Houston, the SHSU Symphony Orchestra, and the University of North Texas Concert Orchestra and Opera Orchestra. She currently works as an orchestra director in CISD and own/operates her own private lesson studio. She has previously worked as a TA with the University of North Texas String Project, private instructor at Da Capo Music in Keller and Denton, master teacher for Music & Arts, choral conductor for Mu Phi Epsilon, and intern with the Youth Symphony of Denton. A past member of Chi Alpha, and current member of Mu Phi Epsilon, CMTA, MTNA, and TMEA she values collaboration. She thoroughly enjoys performing throughout the Houston area but her pride and joy lies in the success of her students who hold esteemed roles (found under About section)
"Kalista has been our daughters’ music teacher for over two years. She has cultivated their love of music by thoughtfully selecting pieces that suit their personalities and skill levels, while also furthering their technique and musical theory. We feel like her talent as a musician is equally matched by her ability to teach and encourage our children. We highly recommend her for any level student seeking instruction."
Nicole McCarty, Parent
"Kalista is a really fun teacher and a great musician. Sometimes we have to try new things that are hard but she’s really nice and patient as we learn and good at explaining things."
Marion, Student (age 11)
"She is chill and supporting, but she knows what she’s doing and how to teach too. She lets you explore and discover for yourself what you like and you advance pretty quickly because you enjoy what you’re playing."
Hannah, Student (age 15)
